I had the pleasure of taking my Ignite 329 presentation and adapting it into a workshop for the students of Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School. I ran a 50-minute zine-making workshop as part of the school’s Self Esteem Day.
100 female students cut up old fashion magazines and reworked the pieces into zines promoting positive healthy lifestyles and self-love. Using a collage method allowed these young women to respond directly to media portrayals of the “ideal body type” and take control of the narrative.
